A NEW EVENT FOR THE EPICUREAN IN YOU!The following information is non-definitive and is subject to change. The Mondial de la bière festival presents the first edition of its culinary event, Flaveurs Bières et Caprices, being held November 29, 30 and December 1, 2007. This new event, which features surprising beer pairings with fine food, will undoubtedly please beer lovers, and anyone else who is seeking new taste discoveries. The event will be held at Le Windsor Ballroom, 1170 Peel St., in downtown Montréal. Four tasting sessions are offered: Thursday evening, Friday evening and Saturday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., as well as Saturday afternoon, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event will host a maximum of 1,000 visitors per session. La Dolce VitaEach year, Flaveurs Bières et Caprices uses the occasion to shed the spotlight on products from a specific country. The first edition of the event will pay homage to the brewing creativity of Italy and the know-how of its artisan brewers. There will be more than 17 Italian beers available for tasting, and visitors will also be able to enjoy some of the best olive oils of the country. Event descriptionThe 4,000 Epicureans who will have the opportunity to participate in the four sessions of the Flaveurs Bières et Caprices event will be treated royally. In fact, more than a hundred beers will be offered, from Italy, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, the U.S. and Québec. These will be accompanied with a selection of appetizers, cheeses, a variety of breads, truffles, chocolates and several other discoveries - mini-pizzas-mini-saucisses-olives - inspired by the Italian theme and designed to emphasize the beers being featured. What does flaveur mean?Over the past several years, tasters have brought back into current use a term taken from Old French, flaveur (in English: flavour, taste). This term, used technically, refers to the overall olfactory, gustatory and tactile sensations experienced during the tasting of a product (Office de la langue française, 1986) Session activitiesEvent participants begin the session by being given the tasting program, which will present each beer with its technical description, as well as a tasting guide and a glass. Then they may follow one of the several tasting rounds proposed by beer experts, or improvise their own voyage of flavours. Several experts will be on hand to offer advice and respond to questions. The sophisticated ambience of the event site, the studied selection of beers being offered, a program built around customized advice, as well as the limited number of visitors will make this event a unique tasting moment, where participants will be able to refine their gourmet knowledge and appreciation in a lively atmosphere with brewers and beer lovers. |
